Unity is Strength
A farmer had four sons. They were always quarreling with each other. The farmer was unhappy. Neighbours are also disturbed by their loud shouting. The farmer tried to convince them but failed. He hit upon a plan to teach them a lesson. One day the boys quarreled again, and the farmer heard them. He asked them to bring four sticks and some rope. The boys brought sticks and ropes for the father. The farmer tied the sticks in a bundle and asked them to break the bundle. The boys tried to break the bundle one by one. But they could not break the bundle. Then the farmer untied the bundle and gave a stick to each son and told them to break it. This time, they broke the stick easily. Then the farmer said, "Together you are strong, but alone you are weak." The boys realized their mistake and stopped fighting.
Moral: "Unity is strength."
একতাই বল
এক কৃষকের চার ছেলে ছিল। তারা সবসময় একে অপরের সাথে ঝগড়া করত। কৃষক অসন্তুষ্ট হলেন। তাদের বিকট চিৎকারে প্রতিবেশীরাও বিরক্ত হয়। কৃষক তাদের বোঝানোর চেষ্টা করেও ব্যর্থ হন। তিনি তাদের একটি শিক্ষা দেওয়ার পরিকল্পনা করেন। একদিন ছেলেরা আবার ঝগড়া করল, কৃষক তা শুনতে পেল। তিনি তাদের চারটি লাঠি এবং কিছু দড়ি আনতে বললেন। ছেলেরা বাবার জন্য লাঠি আর দড়ি নিয়ে এল। কৃষক একটি লাঠি বেঁধে বান্ডিল করল এবং বান্ডিলটি ভাঙতে বলে। ছেলেরা একে একে বান্ডিলটি ভাঙার চেষ্টা করল। কিন্তু বান্ডিলটি ভাঙতে পারল না। তারপর কৃষক বান্ডিলটি খুললেন এবং প্রতিটি ছেলেকে একটি করে লাঠি দিলেন এবং তাদের ভাঙতে বললেন। এবার তারা অনায়াসে লাঠি ভেঙে ফেলল। তখন কৃষক বলল, "একসাথে তোমরা শক্তিশালী, কিন্তু একা তোমরা দুর্বল।" ছেলেরা তাদের ভুল বুঝতে পেরে লড়াই বন্ধ করে দিল।
শিক্ষা: "একতাই বল।"
